But the path wasn't so easy to get...

How do you become a self-driving car engineer?

Think about it. In 2017, the "hype" was maximum. The first online courses on the topic started to appear; many startups got created; so I saw an opportunity to pioneer the field.

I designed myself a curriculum, created a year long plan, and had one, and only one objective:

So as you see, I started accumulating skills, and even sharing them through articles, all leading to getting me discovered by companies. 

And somehow, several months in the process... I got what I wanted!

Ok, so the "if" is solved, remains the "how".

How could me, you, or any engineer with some skills in AI, end up in a position to change jobs, and work as a self-driving car engineer?

For over a year, I basically burried myself into online courses. I was spending 20+ hours per week learning online, from OpenCV, to Tensorflow, to everything I needed to master the right set of technologies. And I tried. I applied for dozens of companies, got rejected from many, improved my profile, tried different job titles, tries to show course certificates, try to show portfolio projects, try to leverage my network, ...

I tried a lot of things that didn't work, and I also discovered a lot of things that did work.

Like showing a portfolio of projects to recruiters, rather than course certificates. This worked like 💣

But this isn't all...

Without realizing it, I spent over a year building a system to transition from engineer to self-driving car engineer.
